Grandma Rockwood

I'm trying to get the name "Grandma Jo" started... Like Grandma Al, but it's not really catching on.

I went back to visit my mom and dad in August while Katie and Jenn were also visiting. It was really fun to hang out with all of them :) I never got to post these great pictures of Nitch and Grandma though! So here they are, better late than never.

The park

There's a fun playground just across the street from the public library, and it's so fun to watch him play around now that he's interested in climbing and exploring. He still loves the swings.

But he also loves all the things he couldn't get to before (when he wasn't walking). There is a little seahorse on a spring that he hangs out by---he's going to get knocked in the head one of these days because he likes to stand RIGHT in front of it watching whatever kid is on it at the time. He likes seeing them laugh and smile and he'll just stand there clapping and laughing with them. He can't get up there by himself, but he sure tries. I'm amazed at how far he can lift his leg (He lifts his left leg up like a dog peeing whenever he's trying to climb something---the bathtub, his crib, the piano bench, the kitchen chairs, the couch.... he can lift it so high that if he's IN the bathtub he can almost lift his knee onto the edge of the tub to hoist himself up. He's about 1/2 inch away.)

Then he climbs all the way up to the top level of the playhouse to the entrance to the slide. Up there he likes to hover between the big step down from the top level and the entrance of the slide...running back and forth back and forth, stopping just short of crashing down either side, just to watch me run wildly back and forth trying to catch him. There are also windchimes, little windows, a rainstick, etc. to play with (that's just the "small side" of the play set. Yup, it's a pretty cool playground.).

How many limes can you spot in this picture?

There are eight.

I have a bag of limes in the bottom-shelf of the refrigerator door, and every time I open the fridge, tiny little hands snatch the bag and spread them around the house before I can even blink. I thought this day was especially funny because of where he decided to put the limes--- there are 2 in the space between the oven door and the handle, there is 1 in the top rack of the dishwasher, there are 2 underneath the clothes hamper (our laundry room is right next to the kitchen and it was laundry day...we don't normally keep our dirty clothes in the kitchen, FYI), there is 1 in his hand (which he's poking with a fork that he's stolen from the dishwasher), and another under the fridge (which you can't actually see, but it still counts).
