Ghostlight, the holy one and the not-so-holy one.

Mater is a the tow-truck from the movie "Cars."  One of the extras on the DVD is a short film called "Mater and the Ghostlight."

Basically, Mater likes to scare people by hiding and jumping out at them.  So everyone plans to scare him.  They tell him this spooky story about the "ghostlight" which is an "unearthly floating orb of blue light."  At the end of the story, Mater is really shaking, and everyone quickly says, "Goodnight!" and drives away leaving Mater alone.  He has to drive back home alone in the dark, and he's scared of the ghostlight.  When he finally gets home, McQueen and Guido sneak up behind him and hang a blue lantern on his hook.  He sees it in his rearview mirrors, and thinks its the ghostlight and speeds away.  He drives all over town trying to run away from the lantern hanging on his town cable.  When he finally gets tired and stops, everyone is there to laugh at him.

It's a cute little clip, and it's not scary at all (although that description kind of sounded like it).  Nicholas plays around being scared of the ghostlight.  He's not really scared, but you can tell that underneath the play, he's a little scared of the ghostlight.

Well, he's recently started calling the Holy Ghost the holy ghostlight.  I'm not quite sure what to do about that.  He always uses it in a good context.  For example, "mom, my tummy hurts.  Can we say a prayer so the holy ghostlight will come and make me feel better?"  or "I will not be scared of the monsters because the holy ghostlight will protect me."  I keep correcting him by saying, "you mean the holy ghost?"  and he just repeats it back to me, "Yeah, the holy ghostlight."

Also--- somewhere he learned what a ghost is.  I am still not sure where.  He prays now for all of us to be safe from the monsters and the ghostesses (like hostess, but with a "g."  That's the plural for ghost, don'tcha know?).  So I'm not quite sure what he thinks of the Holy Ghost.  We might have to bulk up our family home evening lessons on the Godhead.
